Joanne Shaw Taylor- "Heavy soul"

JST has for a long time been one of the most recognisable ambassadors of modern British blues rock. With the help of Joe Bonamassa has taken over the world with success coming in spades as a result of her heavy work ethic and precautious moves. Her latest album is among them. The project is Taylor’s ninth studio album and her first since 2022’s Nobody’s Fool. With JST you know what to expect. Modern blues rock with hints of soul, great songwriting, storytelling, mre STAX and Detroit than the raw ,stripped down Chicago riff world. For one more time ,love, abandonment, hope, broken promises are all over the thematic board and Taylor supports her birth on guitar as vocally. Her playing is mature and full of warmth, not another fretboard heroine but a player who put their soul into her [laying note to tonet.

What I love about her albums is that they are always a few stand out tracks, proving she is recording aiming to the listener,to leave some work behind and not for contractual reasons. This time standout tracks in my humble opinion are “Wild Love,”A Good Goodbye, while joan Armatrading on “All the Way From America, shows how she interprets an out of the typical blues genre, songwriter.Van Morrison’s “Someone Like You” and “Drowning in a Sea of Love” by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff are the other two covers that complete an album dedicated to every blues lover who like some soul and classic rock lighten up the dark of the blues.
