One of the leading UK engineers and producers of his time, Kit Woolven worked on key albums with David Bowie, David Gilmour, Hazel O'Connor as well as a host of metal acts – including, Thin Lizzy and Philip Lynott. He died at the age of 71.
Woolven is credited with engineering Thin Lizzy's Black Rose: A Rock Legend and Renegade albums, as well as producing, engineering and mixing that band's records Chinatown, Adventures Of Thin Lizzy, and Thin Lizzy Live. He also has Producer/ Engineer/ Mixer credits on late Thin Lizzy singer Phil Lynott's releases Solo In Soho, and Philip Lynott Album. Kit also worked on major albums by David Bowie (Scary Monsters and Super Creeps, 1980), David Gilmour (About Face, 1984) and Magnum (On A Storyteller’s Night, 1985).
His love for heavy metal music, shows in his work. He produced, engineered, and mixed for the Cathedral the albums: Carnival Bizarre, Supernatural Birth Machine, and The VIIth Coming,. UFO was another band he has worked with at (High Stakes And Dangerous Men). He produced also On a Storyteller's Night the fifth studio album by the English rock band Magnum, one of their most successful. Other of his works are: Tony Iommi ("Wonderful Land" on Twang!: A Tribute To Hank Marvin & The Shadows), Steelheart (Wait), Cradle Of Filth (Dusk And Her Embrace), Anathema (Alternative 4, and Judgement), Dario Mollo/Tony Martin (The Cage), and many more.
