THE QUIREBOYS or at least one of their recent incarnations are back after some amusing and on the same hand pitiful argument over the bands name and legacy between the original members. Spike, the voice, still gravy, soaked in whiskey, and his version that incluedesThunder guitarist Luke Morley, are coming of age, finding peace with the "other" QUIREBOYS and releasing a new album called "Wardour street". The others changed their name to BLACK EYED SONS and have a new album, "Cowboys In Pinstripe Suits", hitting the bins in January. But let's get back to business and let the gossip for BLABBERMOUTH.
Spike and his old mate Tyla of DOGS D'AMOUR were always on the drunk side of history, smiling at THE CASES,THE ROLLING STONES and whoever liked ,twelve bar ,boozed rock n roll. The QUIREBOYS 2024 are not an exception and Luke Morely helps their musical credibility. A tight ,rock n roll ,outfit that reminds a lot of their sophomore, classical album "A bit of what you fancy", like there was not a day since1990..From the groovy "Jeeze Louise" already a newborn set list standard, to the self explanatory "Raining Whiskey" (feat. Frankie Miller), the groove is back with a vengeance. "I think i got it wrong" is another foot stomper while "Happy" is a song that today with nte council culture and the Metoo , political correctness is a bold step to praise debauchery and irresponsibility and damned it works. "No Honour Amongst Thieves" drops the tempo a bit as it does the tear dropping "Ain't Over Now", but when the guitars are loaded you have the last two songs remind you that rock n roll is all about fun and having a good time in the best 60s tradition in "Like It or Not" and "Wardour Street".
Honky tonk, piano accompanied, whiskey soaked, guitar driven, twelve bar rock n roll, you asked for it and they deliver in spades
